New Alliances Feature – How will the new system work?

The new Alliances system will include new features that are discussed in the second Dev Blog. Read under for more details and answers to some of the most common questions we’ve received on our social platforms about the new Alliance system.

How many players will there be in an Alliance?

The new cross-platform system will allow up to 50 players to be in an Alliance.

Messenger system

The new Alliances system will first mainly focus on the social and roleplay aspect of Airlines Manager. Therefore, a new real instant messenger system will be implemented with Alliances.

  • This messenger system will allow you to directly text the members of your Alliance. Each Alliance will have its own general messenger system that allows direct interactions between players. Other information, such as the recruitment of new players, change of director or rank updates will also appear on it.
  • The Alliance Director will be able to create different roles within the group in order to modify the settings of the general messenger system. The roles will have multiple options to act in the Alliance system such as sending prioritized messages, accepting or declining a submission or banning a misbehaved member from the Alliance.
  • You will also be able to message players directly. However, please keep in mind that it won’t be possible to message a player in Pro Mode if you play on Tycoon Mode and vice versa.
  • A Block system will be integrated. It will prevent blocked players from sending direct messages if you decide to block them.
  • The system will also be moderated and will have rules in order to protect players from misbehaving.

Note that this messenger system isn’t designed to replace any prior communication way that an Alliance may have used in the past, it is meant to simplify communication by not having to change between applications to discuss with your members. It is mainly integrated as a new way of communication directly in the game, in order to smooth conversations and information about the alliance. The system is designed to be more accessible for players, as it does not need any external applications than the game itself. However, if you want to continue using your external chat, eg. Discord, you will always be able to put more information in your description text area.

Ranking system – How will Miles work?

What is as important as communication within an Alliance in real life? It’s network and reliability. So we built a whole new ranking based on these points.

It will be based on network, route diversity and quality of fleet. Each Alliance will generate its own score, allowing the game to rank them. Said score will be calculated with a unit called “Miles” and each player within an Alliance will automatically generate an amount of Miles, based on their airline network and the maintenance of their fleet.

  • The bigger the network is, the more routes a player owns, the more Miles this member will generate for their Alliance ranking.
  • “Unique routes” will generate more Miles. A route is considered as “unique” when it’s operated by only one or very few members of the Alliance. In an example: out of all 50 members of the Alliance, if only 5-10 operate a specific route, each will bring the Alliance a high number of Miles. However, if the route becomes oversaturated and there are too many members operating on it over time, the value of the Miles this route brings declines with the amount of members who have it. At the most extreme case, if all 50 of the majority of the Alliance members buy the same route, the more they “discount” the worth of the route in Miles and it can go down to 0 Miles worth. However, should only 11/50 members operate this route, it will bring a specific amount of miles per unique member.
  • The more incidents you suffer that ground your aircraft, the more your total Miles decrease. It will be necessary to maintain your fleet regularly in order to maintain your Miles quota. This is based on how many incidents an aircraft may have, not on how many checks A/D that you may have performed.
  • The Miles that each member brings to their Alliance are displayed directly on the Alliance profile, in the Alliance Member Management menu. This data will be public for each member.

What does it mean for the existing Alliances and their members?

As you already know, we are working on the new version of Alliances feature with a beta version planned for Q4 2021! We highly appreciate our existing web players who are a part of existing Alliances and know that the new feature will impact their current setup on several points.

The fact is that the current Alliances feature will no longer exist in the same form as the present feature. The new feature will be a cross-platform one: both on mobile and on web, both on pro and tycoon servers. Therefore, the old Alliances will be replaced by the new ones. We know that a lot of our players who have been using the feature until now wonder how this will impact them. Here is a sneak peek at what the transition and compensation for existing alliance will look like:

  • All the current active Alliance names and members will be transferred to the new system automatically.
  • The Legacy Alliances (current system ones) will get a distinct visual highlight compared to the ones created on the new system.
  • Existing Alliance members will get a badge to mark their veteran status. The top ranked Alliances at the time of switch from old to new system, will have the ranking on their Legacy Alliance badge. The old ranking system will not be kept in the new feature, a new system will be introduced.
  • We will give free unique liveries to top ranked Alliances for their fleet.
  • Currency and shared hubs recompensation: We have a couple of ways we plan on making sure everything is fair but as soon as we announce the specifics, the meta of Alliances and player behavior will be impacted, one way or another. For that reason we would rather keep it for a later announcement. Such an announcement would come ahead of the actual release, though.
  • There will be a recompensation of AMC invested in the Alliance.
